MANILA, Philippines - Rumors of Kobe Bryant's demise have been slightly exaggerated.

The 37-year-old living legend, who has announced that this season will be his last in the NBA, gave Houston Rockets big man Clint Capela a retirement gift of his own, delivering a dunk over the 6-foot-10 center during the third quarter of the Los Angeles Lakers vs Houston Rockets game at the Staples Centers in Los Angeles on Friday, December 18 (Manila time).

The one-handed slam came after Bryant blew past former teammate Trevor Ariza following a subtle shot fake. It was such a nostalgic moment that even Dwight Howard, who left the Lakers under less than friendly circumstances due to bickering with Kobe, had to let out a laugh.

ESPN reports that it's the first dunk of the season for the Black Mamba, who is averaging 16.5 points per game on a career-low .330 field goal percentage.

The 19-year veteran's play was a reminder of how he was once among the league's most explosive dunkers, having won the 1997 Slam Dunk Contest. Injuries and age have slowed the 5-time NBA champion in recent years. If Friday is any indication, he may have another highlight or two up his non-existent sleeves.

The Rockets ultimately won, 107-87. Bryant finished with 22 points and 8 rebounds. – Rappler.com
