MANILA, Philippines - Shane Mosley may be well past his prime, but he's still got a fighter's heart.

The 44-year-old boxing legend, who is approaching his 23rd year as a pro fighter, scored the 41st knockout win of his career, finishing former Venezuelan Olympian Patrick Lopez at 2:00 of the tenth and final round at Arena Roberto Duran in Panama City, Panama. Mosley (49-9-1, 41 knockouts) scored a knockdown in round two and two more in round 10 to earn his second straight victory.

Mosley, a 3-division champion who holds two victories over Oscar de la Hoya and lost a decisions to Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr, was cut by an accidental headbutt just 75 seconds into the fight. The fight continued with Mosley, 7 years older than his 37-year-old opponent, searching for an early finish against the technically sound Lopez.

Mosley finally overwhelmed Lopez with hard-swinging shots in the tenth, sending Lopez to a record of 23-6 (14 KOs).

Recent years have been tumultuous inside the ring for Mosley, who went 1-4-1 over 6 fights and was prompted to retire after retiring on his stool in a match against Australian Anthony Mundine.

Mosley returned to the ring this past August for the first time in nearly two years, knocking out Ricardo Mayorga for a second time. – Rappler.com
