MANILA, Philippines – Filipino weightlifter Nestor Colonia was not having any of it from a critic on Facebook following his Rio Olympics loss in men's 56 kg.

The 24-year-old responded to a comment from someone who questioned why he was unable to lift 154 kg while compatriot Hidilyn Diaz, who won a silver to end the Philippines' 20-year medal dry spell, lifted 200 kg.

Colonia replied in the comments section saying: "Do you even know anything about weightlifting?? Maybe (lifting) just 30 kilos will kill you."

For everyone's peace of mind, 200 kg was Diaz's total weight lifted for both the snatch as well as the clean and jerk lifts. While 154 kg was Colonia's target weight for the clean and jerk.

Olympic weightlifting is composed of two lifts: the snatch, and the clean and jerk.

A competitor must complete at least one lift in 3 tries for each of those two types of lifts for him or her to have a total score. The attempt with the heaviest successful weight lifted will be counted towards the official score for each type of lift.

If a competitor is unable to register a successful lift, he or she will officially record a "no lift" and won't qualify for a medal.

Colonia, a bronze medalist in the World Weightlifting Championship and a gold medalist in the Asian edition, competed only in his first Olympiad and is looking forward to bouncing back in the 2020 Games. – Rappler.com
