Girl Power: Philippines to face Thailand in AFC U-14 title match

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippines whipped Myanmar 5-1 Saturday, June 4 to advance to the final of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-14 Girls Regional Championship for ASEAN in Vientiane, Laos. 

No scorers were provided by the AFC website, which said Thailand will be final opponent of the Philippines, which advanced to the semifinals by placing second in their group. Thailand defeated Vietnam 2-0 in the other semifinal.

The final is set for 4:30 pm Sunday at the Chao Anuvong Stadium. The Philippines drew with Thailand 2-2 in the preliminaries. 

The Filipinas finished second to Thailand in Group A, both being unbeaten in a field composed of Malaysia and Laos. Myanmar, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore composed Group B. 

The players are: Trinity Wambolt, Journey Winder, Gaby Colatos, Martina Torres, Cassandra Zalamea, Anya Fuentes, Maria Lazo, Alex Villalon, Alex Lagman, Carly Frilles, Marinell Cristobal, Arianna Lepage, Jessica Pido, Katelyn Alexander, Malina Hill, Keane Dedel, Shelten Cruces and Riza Ugbaniel. Their coach is Joyce Landagan, daughter of former UST halfback Jesus Landagan. – Rappler.com
