MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Bo Perasol has formally been announced as head coach of the UP Fighting Maroons men’s basketball team on Monday, May 2.
Perasol, a former Maroons team captain when he played for the squad from 1990 to 1994, moved to the Diliman-based squad after 3 years as head coach of the Ateneo Blue Eagles, whom he led to a Final Four finish in UAAP Season 78.
"It's good to be home," Perasol said in a text message. "I'm hoping that in my humble capacity and experience, I will be able to help out improve UP's basketball program."
Also a former PBA coach known for his offensive approach, Perasol will inherit a UP team that finished 3-11 last season under coach Rensy Bajar.
The news was confirmed by UP Fighting Maroons team manager Dan Palami, who says Perasol will begin observing team practices on Tuesday, May 3.
Returning for the Fighting Maroons next season are guards Diego Dario and Paul Desiderio as well as veteran Jett Manuel. – Rappler.com
