MANILA, Philippines – Xavier School standout Tyler Tio has committed to play college basketball for the Ateneo Blue Eagles, Rappler learned on Monday, February 29.
Tio’s agent, PJ Pilares, confirmed the news to Rappler and said that the 5-foot-11-inch athlete chose the university for both its basketball program and his preferred degree.
“[His] desired course, which is Management Economics, and the basketball program are perfect for Tyler,” Pilares said via text message.
Tio will join his Ateneo teammates for practice beginning next week under the supervision of new Blue Eagles head coach Tab Baldwin.
“[He’s] super excited. [He] can’t wait to join the team next Monday,” Pilares said.
