MANILA, Philippines – The De La Salle Zobel Junior Archers stayed alive in the UAAP Season 78 juniors finals with a 71-60 Game 2 win over the NU Bullpups on Friday, February 26, at the San Juan Arena.
Zobel was led by the strong play of league MVP Aljun Jay Melecio and Marco Sario to snap NU’s 15-game winning streak and hand the Bullups their first loss of the season.
Game 3 of the finals is next Friday, March 2. NU, which has a thrice-to-beat advantage, needs one more win to win the championship while the Archers need two more.
Both teams were tied at the half at 30, but an 11-2 run to open the second half for Zobel gave it momentum. The Archers were able to hold on the rest of the way.
Sario finished with 16 points while Melecio posted 14.
John Lloyd Clemente propelled the Bullpups with 25 points while Justine Baltazar had 15 points and 20 boards. – Rappler.com
