MANILA, Philippines – The Phoenix Suns have traded disgruntled big man Markieff Morris to the Washington Wizards, Yahoo and ESPN reported on Friday, February 19.
Morris, 26, was drafted 13th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Suns. He will be sent to Washington in exchange for Kris Humphries, DeJuan Blair and a top-9 protected first round pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, per reports.
Morris has been a candidate to be traded by the Suns since the start of the season. His relationship with the franchise flustered after it traded his brother, Marcus, to Detroit over the offseason.
This season, Morris got into a towel-throwing incident with former Phoenix head coach Jeff Hornacek and recently was in an altercation with his teammate Archie Goodwin.
Morris is averaging 11.6 points and 5.2 rebounds a game this season, down from 15.3 points and 6.2 rebounds a game last season.
The move is expected to help a struggling, 23-28 Washington team in its chase for a playoff spot. The Wizards are currently two games back of Charlotte in the loss column for the eighth spot in the standings. – Rappler.com
