MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine national karate team, known as the Philippine Typhoons, brought home a bevy of medals from the International Karate Marmara Cup held in Istanbul, Turkey from November 27 to 29, 2015.
The Philippine team, which competed against 21 countries, collected 3 gold medals, one silver, and 5 bronzes.
Ali Parvinfar hauled two golds in kata and kumite (master division), while KZ Santiago got one gold in the kata event to go with another bronze.
Mae Eso Soriano bagged a silver in kumite, while Rexor Tacay and Michelle Villamayor combined for 3 bronze medals.
Team Male composed of Elvin John Vergavera, John Paul Bejar, Engene Stoner Barro Dagohoy, Ram Macaalay, and Carmelo Estor Patricio Jr also won another bronze. – Rappler.com
