MANILA, Philippines - They are back for a grand slam.
The Petron Blazing Spikers showed a jam-packed San Juan Arena what a champion looks like after beating the Cignal HD Spikers, 25-20, 26-24,20-25,25-13, Thursday, November 19, in their 2015 Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix knockout game.
Petron will face Foton on Thursday, November 26, for the best-of-3 finals showdown.
The triumvirate of Brazilian import Rupia Inck, Rachel Ann Daquis, and Dindin Santiago-Manabat carried the Blazing Spikers with 20, 14, and 12 markers respectively.
According to Petron coach George Pascua, his team depended heavily on their championship experience, but adds that there is no place for complacency this time.
“Mas kailangan pa naming pag butihin kasi gusto naming mag grand slam,” said Pascua.
(We need to do better because we are aiming for a grand slam.)
Petron didn’t have much difficulty dealing with the Cignal side with the offensive efforts of both their imports and locals. Petron has the most number of UAAP stars among all other teams in the PSL like Daquis, Aby Maraño, and Dindin Manabat.
“Foton is a good team pero experience wise, angat kami kasi mga beterano na yung mga players ko,” Pascua added.
(Foton is a good team but we have more advantage in terms of experience, because I have veterans in my team.)
Foton hasn’t defeated Petron in the elimination round.
Amanda Anderson topped Cignal with 20 points while Ariel Usher added 18 markers. They will face Philips Gold for the battle for third. – Rappler.com
