MANILA, Philippines - Betting odds are heavily in favor of ex-bantamweight titleholder Ronda Rousey if the rematch against newly-minted champion Holly Holm materializes.
According to Bovada.lv, Rousey is listed as the -175 favorite in the second meeting versus Holm, who is labeled as the +175 underdog.
In layman’s terms, a bet of $175 on Rousey would net an additional $100. On the opposite end, a $100 wager on Holm would earn $175.
Structured as a money-line game, odds will change in either direction as the fight approaches because sportsbooks will attempt to even the playing field and spread wagers on both sides to cover its risk.
Those numbers are far closer than both ladies’ first encounter when Holm closed as high as a +700 underdog in various Las Vegas sportsbooks.
It cost the sportsbooks a significant amount of money when Holm scored a major upset by dethroning Rousey for the women’s bantamweight championship in the main event of UFC 193 on Sunday, November 15 (Manila time).
The 34-year-old native of Albuquerque, New Mexico knocked out Rousey with a left head kick and polished her off with follow-up punches on the ground to compel referee Herb Dean to intervene at the 0:59 second mark of round two.
UFC president Dana White is not ruling out a rematch between Holm and Rousey as he believes that it is sensible to book in the near future.
