LOW BLOW. Justin Carter calls Chooks to Go the 'sorriest team' he'd ever played against, but it was Carter who shot 3-of-21 from the field. Photo from Carter's Facebook

MANILA, Philippines - After being down by 8 at halftime, Chooks to Go Pilipinas turned it around and won by 8, 73-65, against Kazakh club BC Astana thanks to Kiefer Ravena’s heroics and import Isaiah Austin’s defense and rebounding.

While Austin made noise on the court with his 17 points, 18 rebounds and 6 blocks, another import made a different kind of noise off it: Astana import Justin Carter.

Perhaps no one informed the former Creighton cager that the country he just dissed is the world’s undisputed social media capital, based on research by We Are Social Ltd. Sure enough, Filipino netizens and journalists caught wind of Carter’s rant and let him have a piece of their own minds.

GMA News’ Mark Zambrano is one of the top replies, and for good reason:

{source}

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Now you know how we play. We&#39;re not the best out there but we grind it out. We respect the game. Maybe you forgot that part. Next time..</p>&mdash; Mark Zambrano (@markzambrano) <a href="https://twitter.com/markzambrano/status/911417131446657024">September 23, 2017</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>{/source}

Netizen @edsacosta06 put things in perspective for Carter:

{source}

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">It hurts, right?  Beaten by a young team, with just a week of practice.</p>&mdash; Eds  (@edsacosta06) <a href="https://twitter.com/edsacosta06/status/911376907270217728">September 22, 2017</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>{/source}

So did @xxprettymermaid:

{source}

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Justin Carter and company beaten by college players who only had 1 week practice for the tourney. </p>&mdash; Alez (@xxprettymermaid) <a href="https://twitter.com/xxprettymermaid/status/911391592287576064">September 23, 2017</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>{/source}

Soon enough, more netizens jumped on the “beaten by college players” bandwagon:

{source}

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">That makes you the sorriest player bcuz thats just a young team</p>&mdash; lax (@LaxamanaJoshua) <a href="https://twitter.com/LaxamanaJoshua/status/911367847418380288">September 22, 2017</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>{/source}

{source}

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">that team was formed a week only, college players, pro rookies. How much more if u will face the strongest club of Philippines?</p>&mdash; Fritz RN (@fritzryan20) <a href="https://twitter.com/fritzryan20/status/911393871682183169">September 23, 2017</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>{/source}

{source}

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">just got beaten by a bunch of college players. .thats not even a pro team in the Philippines </p>&mdash; boodee monteno (@belbod9) <a href="https://twitter.com/belbod9/status/911380615135584256">September 23, 2017</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>{/source}

But some hit Carter back where it hurt most: from the statsheet.

Thanks, @WGameplayPH.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">This didn&#39;t make you cool after a loss. You&#39;re shooting 3/21, and your team got 6 National team players. <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>{/source}

But it was Sports5.ph writer Noel Zarate who told Carter the most important consequence of his action: his team’s reputation which he carries with him as their import.

{source}

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">And you&#39;re the sorriest player out there. BC Astana deserves respect. Not quite sure about you...</p>&mdash; Noel Zarate (@NoelZarate) <a href="https://twitter.com/NoelZarate/status/911445746838265856">September 23, 2017</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>{/source}

BC Astana is one of the most successful basketball clubs of Kazakhstan, as they are the current champions of the Kazakhstan Basketball Championship tournament and Kazakhstan Basketball Cup, both abbreviated as KBC. The club also rode a championship four-peat in both KBCs from 2011 to 2014. Only the Astana Tigers’ 6-peat from 2004-2009 has surpassed BC Astana in terms of overall success.

Maybe Carter ought to remember that soon enough. – Rappler.com
