MANILA, Philippines - Filipino boxer Genesis Servania made a good accounting of himself in his first world title fight but fell short, losing a decision to WBO featherweight champion Oscar Valdez on Friday, September 22 (Saturday Manila time) at the Convention Center in Tucson, Arizona.
Servania dropped Valdez in round 4 with a straight right hand as Valdez backed straight up, and was in serious trouble at the end of the round. But Valdez (23-0, 19 knockouts) of Nogales, Mexico came back strong, dropping the Bacolod City native Servania in the fifth round with a left hook.

Servania (29-1, 12 KOs) fought gamely throughout, and stunned Valdez near the end of the sixth with a combination along the ropes, but it was Valdez, a two-time Olympian, who had more options for his attack, boxing safely for much of the way to the decision victory.
A former boxer from the ALA Gym in Cebu City now fighting out of Kanazawa, Japan for the past two years, Servania was fighting without his trainer Mark Gil Melligen in his corner after Melligen was unable to make it due to visa issues.
The fight was Servania's first ever in the United States. – Rappler.com
