MANILA, Philippines – A day after being taken into police custody at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and subsequently arrested, Ateneo Blue Eagles center Chibueze Ikeh has been released after his bail of P24,000 was paid on Thursday, November 5, according to reports and a source from the CIDU (Crime Investigation and Detection Unit) in Camp Karingal.

Following his team’s win against the UP Maroons on Wednesday, policemen from the Quezon City Police District approached officials of the Blue Eagles and Ikeh at the locker room area of the coliseum.

Ikeh then entered a white Starex van with an unidentified woman and was taken to the CIDU’s warrant section in Karingal, where he was detained.

Ikeh was placed under arrest and charged with violating Republic Act 9262, known as the "Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004."

Ikeh was arrested by virtue of the warrant issued by QC RTC 102.

According to a spokesperson at the CIDU unit in Camp Karingal, Ikeh was released on Thursday at 12:30 pm.

According to the Twitter account of Inquirer sports, Ateneo athletics director Em Fernandez said that Ikeh is going to play in his team’s next game against the DLSU Green Archers on Sunday, November 8.
