MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine national under-16 men's basketball team quietly made history in an untelevised game that saw them defeat perennial tormentor China, 78-72, in the 2015 FIBA Asia Under-16 Championship on Tuesday, November 3 at the Britama Arena in Indonesia.

Batang Gilas, whose roster's average height is listed at 5-foot-11, slayed the 6-foot-6 giants from China exactly a month after big brothers Gilas Pilipinas fell to the Chinese national men's basketball team at the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship.

China's under-16 team had been unbeaten since the continental tournament began in 2009, having won 3 gold medals in the biennial meet.
