MANILA, Philippines - Anyone can be a boxer. All you have to do is buy a membership at your local fitness center, pick up a pair of handwraps and a jumprope and you're all set.

It takes a certain brand of courage, the will to risk a part of yourself that may never return in search of victory, to be a fighter. There are no timeouts in boxing, no substitutions when hurt. Fighters continue to press forward far beyond the point when normal people would turn away in self preservation.

This viral video compilation, set to the tune of Johnny Cash's rendition of "Hurt," encapsulates the struggle that fighters endure in pursuit of glory.

The video compiles footage from Miguel Cotto vs Antonio Margarito, Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez IV, Austin Trout vs Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, and several other fights.

The lights may be bright above the ring, but when the show is over, a fighter is all alone with his thoughts. Boxers conceal their struggle from opponents, but the pain is always real. – Rappler.com
