MANILA, Philippines – After a year sitting on the sidelines, Filipina fighter Gina Iniong will return to active competition as she is slated to face newcomer American Tessa Simpson in the undercard of PXC 50 on December 4 at the University of Guam field house in Mangilao, Guam.
Iniong (3-2) was last seen in action in November 2014 when she yielded to current UFC strawweight competitor Cortney Casey via first round submission under the PXC banner.
Prior to the disappointing defeat, she was riding high on a two-fight win streak after thwarting Nathalie Heidel via first round technical knockout in November 2013, then outpointing Japanese veteran Mei Yamaguchi by a 3-round split decision in March 2014.
On the other hand, Simpson (3-1) makes his promotional debut for PXC after a two-year layoff.
Simpson, who strutted her wares for various organizations such as Legacy Fighting Championship and Shark Fights, last competed in September 2013 when she defeated Paulina Granados by way of unanimous decision.
PXC 50 will be headlined by two championship clashes as Yusuke Yachi defends the featherweight title against Alex Volkanovski, while Frank Camacho and Tyrone Jones vie for the vacant lightweight belt. – Rappler.com
