MANILA, Philippines – Philippine light flyweight champion Renren Tesorio is set to challenge Japanese pugilist Daigo Higa for the WBC Youth flyweight championship on November 7.
The scheduled 10-round bout is set to happen at the historic Korakuen Hall in Higa’s hometown of Tokyo, Japan.
A Filipino fighter has yet to win the aforementioned boxing title, as have 8 other Filipino boxers, including Ardin Diale and Richard Garcia.
Tesorio (15-6-3, 4 knockouts) recently defeated Bonjun Loperez via technical unanimous decision on the undercard of Bernabe Concepcion vs. Juma Fundi this past July.
The 23-year-old native of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan captured the Philippine light flyweight strap with a majority decision win over Benezer Alolod in their rematch last March.
On the other hand, Daigo is perfect in his 7 professional outings with all coming by way of knockout.
Daigo bagged the WBC Youth flyweight title by thwarting Jakkrawut Majoogoen, also known as Kongfah CP Freshmart, in the seventh round of their July encounter. – Rappler.com
