MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines held on amid a late-game rally from India to come away with a 67-64 victory and the 7th place finish in the 2016 FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship on Sunday, July 31 in Tehran, Iran.
The under-18 team also known as Batang Gilas led by 10 points with 5 minutes remaining before India made a run to inch to within a point with just 1:36 to go.
Guard Fran Yu, who finished with 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field, knocked down his only two free throws of the game to keep Batang Gilas' foes at bay.
Jolo Mendoza topscored with 15 points and 5 rebounds while John Bryle Bahio added 10 points and 8 rebounds.
The Philippines ended the tournament with a 3-5 record. – Rappler.com
