MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines fell to 1-2 in its FIBA Asia Under 18 Championship campaign after getting dominated by China, 95-66, on Sunday, July 24, in Tehran, Iran.
Coming off an impressive win against Iraq, it seemed like Batang Gilas had momentum on its side entering the contest.
However, that quickly proved to not be the case as China opened the first quarter with a 15-0 run. The Philippines was unable to make it a competitive game the rest of the way.
Ateneo Blue Eagle Jolo Mendoza sparked Batang Gilas with 19 points, while NU Bulldog JV Gallego came off the bench to provide 12 points. The two were the only players for the Philippines in double-figures.
Batang Gilas will be back in action on Tuesday, July 26, against Thailand. – Rappler.com
