MULTIPLE TALENTS. John Cena (L) impresses with the ability to speak in a native tongue

MANILA, Philippines – John Cena showed once again why he is the face of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) as the 39-year-old sports-entertainment superstar impressively spoke Mandarin at the organization’s press conference in China.

Cena, a 15-time world champion in professional wrestling, had a nearly 3-minute speech in China’s native tongue, formally announcing WWE’s partnership with Chinese streaming channel PPTV on Thursday, June 16 (Manila time).

Starting June 28, wrestling aficionados in China will be able to stream all 3 hours of Monday Night Raw and two hours of SmackDown on demand exclusively on PPTV.

The wrestling promotion’s short-form content will be available on PPTV’s digital platforms, while the network will also launch and manage a new WWE website in China.

At the same media event, WWE publicly confirmed that it will stage its first live event in China in more than 3 years on September 10 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai.

In line with WWE’s exclusive multi-year content distribution agreement with PPTV, the wrestling company revealed the acquisition of Bin Wang.

Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE’s executive vice president of talent, live events and creative, presided the momentous contract signing, making Wang the first Chinese talent to ink a WWE developmental deal.

The 22-year-old grappler from Anhui Province has been training for the past two years in Japan at the Inoki Genome Federation, a pro wrestling and mixed martial arts promotion that was founded by WWE hall of famer Antonio Inoki.

Wang will relocate to Orlando, Florida to begin his training at the state-of-the-art WWE Performance Center.  – Rappler.com
