NEW YORK, USA - Vince Carter, the 39-year-old Memphis Grizzlies guard who has spent 18 seasons in the NBA, was named Wednesday, June 8 as winner of the league's Teammate of the Year award.
NBA players selected Carter for the honor, bestowed annually for selfless play, dedication to his team and leadership on and off the court.
Carter was given 1,448 points from the players, including 65 first-place votes, with Minnesota's Kevin Garnett second on 916 (39 first-place votes) and Miami's Chris Bosh third with 799 (18 first-place votes).
Carter, ranked 24th on the NBA's all-time scoring list with 23,969 points, is an 8-time NBA All-Star selection. He spent the past two seasons with Memphis after stints with Toronto, New Jersey, Orlando, Phoenix and Dallas.
Carter, who won Olympic gold with the US squad at Sydney in 2000, ranks sixth on the NBA's all-time 3-pointer list with 1,937. He has career averages of 18.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists a game. – Rappler.com
