MANILA, Philippines - It’s official. Ateneo now has a new power couple.
After months of heavy speculation, the ex-Ateneo star athletes Kiefer Ravena and Alyssa Valdez confirmed on the Wednesday, June 8 taping of Tonight With Boy Abunda that they are indeed in a relationship.

Collectively known as “The Phenoms,” this would be the couple’s first public admission after the two were linked together. The rumors kicked off on the heels of Ravena’s breakup with La Salle’s women’s volleyball captain, Mika Reyes, in July of 2015, after a video surfaced involving Reyes allegedly kissing a male swimmer. Reyes admitted that she was the one in the video but clarified that she was just talking with the swimmer. Ravena has also denied that the video was the reason of their breakup.
Valdez also denied being a third party in the breakup in an August 3, 2015 interview with pep.ph. The interview was held at a PLDT Home Ultera event, which Reyes no-showed.
That same month, Ravena and Valdez starred in their own show on TV5 called “Phenoms,” which lasted until November 22.
Soon after, Ravena declared that he was indeed in love with Valdez in an October 31, 2015 taping of Tonight With Boy Abunda. However, he said that they were “not yet” a couple in that same episode.
Last February 20, 2016, photographer Winston Baltasar snapped a photo of the two sharing a quick post-game kiss after Ateneo’s volleyball match against Adamson University, which quickly went viral.
Just last May 4, Valdez posted a Twitter photo of the two of them with her holding a bouquet of flowers. The photo was captioned with nothing but a “pig” emoji. Three hours later, Ravena posted a photo of them on Instagram with the caption “finally yes (pig emoji),” which led many to speculate that they are already in a relationship.
This ultimately led to the confirmation in last night’s episode of Abunda’s show. Within minutes, #KIEFLYonTWBA became the country’s top trend with over 80,000 tweets. – Rappler.com
