MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine team notched their first win but also suffered a costly defeat during day 5 of the FIBA 3X3 Under-18 World Championship in Kazakhstan on Sunday, June 5.
After losing its first two games of the tourney to defending champion New Zealand and Brazil, the number 13-ranked Philippines beat Hungary in a close matchup, 18-17, but lost to Spain in the last elimination round game, 16-14.

Only the top two teams from each pool advance to the quarterfinals. With a 1-3 record after the eliminations, the Philippines didn't make the cut along with Spain and Hungary while Brazil and New Zealand advanced.
The Philippines’ Joshua Sinclair ended the elimination round as the top eighth scorer in the tournament with 26 points through 4 games.
National University high school star John Lloyd Clemente finished with 15 points overall, while Theo Flores and Kyle Tan each had 8 points for the tourney. – Rappler.com
