MANILA, Philippines – The sports world received sad news on Saturday, June 4, when it was announced that legendary boxer and 3-time heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali had passed away at a hospital near his home in Phoenix, Arizona after being hospitalized for respiratory difficulties.
Ali was 74-years-old.
Not long after his passing was officially confirmed, another legendary boxer in Mike Tyson paid tribute to Ali on Twitter, posting an image of the two.
Tyson wrote, “God came for his champion. So long great one.”

The 49-year-old Tyson finished his career with a record of 50 wins, 6 losses, and 44 knockouts.
Ali, who had been battling Parkinson’s Disease since 1984, was also known for his refusal to being inducted into the Army for the Vietnam War in 1967.
The legendary boxer from Louisville, Kentucky missed 3 years in the ring before returning and starting a famous rivalry with Joe Frazier, which included 3 unforgettable fights.
The two also had a battle in Manila in 1975, famously labelled the “Thrilla in Manila.”
Funeral arrangements for Ali, per reports, will be held in his hometown of Louisville and will be announced on Saturday, US time. – Rappler.com
