MANILA, Philippines – Gilas Pilipinas improved to a 2-1 record in the second round of the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship after withstanding Japan, 73-66, on Sunday, September 27 in Changsha, Hunan, China.

The Philippines averted another collapse similar to their loss to Palestine with Andray Blatche and Ranidel De Ocampo delivering the crucial baskets down the stretch to stave off their foes.

Blatche put on an inspired performance as he endured a right ankle injury.

The national team will go up against the reigning champion Iran on Monday, September 28.
