MANILA, Philippines – Fresh off winning a UAAP women’s volleyball championship with the DLSU Lady Spikers, Ara Galang was selected first overall by F2 Logistic in the 2016 Philippine Superliga Draft held at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall on Friday, May 27.
Galang, whose participation in the draft was uncertain until the final minute, will join a team coached by her college mentor, Ramil De Jesus, and will play with former collegiate teammates Aby Marano, Cha Cruz, and Kim Dy, Mika Reyes, Stephanie Mercado, and more.
“I treat her as my sister… nakakatuwa kasi she’s very respectful and magaan kasama saloob [nang court],” Cruz said during the Draft after Galang’s name was announced.
(It’s great because she’s very respectful and fun to play with inside the court.)
CJ Rosario, the sister of PBA star Troy Rosario and a standout from Arellano University, was taken second overall by Petron. The 6-foot-1 middle hitter already has experience playing in the PSL after seeing action for Petron in a pre-season tournament.
