MANILA, Philippines - Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry is set to be named the National Basketball Association (NBA) Most Valuable Player for the second straight season, multiple outlets are reporting.
Curry, 28, averaged a league-best 30.1 points per game in the 2015-16 regular season, a significant improvement from his 23.8 PPG average the previous season, to go along with 6.7 assists and 5.4 rebounds. He led the league in 3-pointers made and attempted for the fourth straight season, connecting on a record-breaking 402 to shatter his previous record of 286, which was set in 2014-15.

Curry and the defending champion Warriors set a new record for most wins a regular season at 73, passing the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls’ 72-10 mark. Curry will be just the 11th player to win the MVP award in back-to-back season, and the first since LeBron James did so in 2012 and 2013, ESPN reports.
ESPN also reports that an official announcement is expected in the coming days.
Curry has been out of action with a sprained knee since Game 4 of the opening playoff round against the Houston Rockets on April 24. The Warriors take the court later today for Game 4 of their series against the Portland Trail Blazers with a 2-1 series lead. – Rappler.com
