SINGAPORE – Filipino fighter Cary Bullos refuses to be counted out against Christian Lee as he seeks an upset victory over the undefeated Singaporean prospect on the undercard of ONE Championship’s “Ascent to Power” event on Friday, May 6.
Many believe that Bullos does not have what it takes to topple Lee as the much-hyped combatant is riding high on an impressive 3-fight winning streak, with two knockout wins and one submission victory.
However, the 32-year-old Cebuano begs to disagree with the observation as he aims to walk out of the 12,000-seater Singapore Indoor Stadium with his hand raised in triumph.
“I am here to win. I didn’t come to Singapore to lose. I will make sure to walk out of the arena on fight night as the winner,” Bullos told Rappler.
Bullos revealed that he sees a loophole in Lee’s movement and plans to expose it by utilizing his striking arsenal.
“I had the chance to study his past fights. Definitely, I have the advantage in striking. I saw some flaws in his movement. If I can expose it with my striking, I will have a better chance,” he said.
A product of Universal Reality Combat Championship’s Cebu chapter, Bullos stressed that his 10-year prizefighting experience will play a pivotal role in the 3-round featherweight contest versus Lee.
“Experience is the key. Christian Lee is young and talented, but I have been around for so long. I am ready for this given task to fight him,” he stated.
Bullos has not yet notched a single win inside the ONE Championship cage since he joined the organization in November 2014 when he was submitted by Major Overall with a 29-second rear-naked choke.
To compound the misery, he was forced to tap again by Malaysian-Kiwi sensation Ev Ting with a second-round guillotine choke in March 2015.
Despite the 14-month layoff and the two-fight losing skid, Bullos is confident that he can get the job done against a tough opposition like Lee.
“I am very confident that I can win this one. I learned my lesson from defeats. It’s time for me to rise up and make a statement,” he asserted. – Rappler.com
