MANILA, Philippines – LeBron James may just take his talents to space.
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the Cleveland Cavaliers forward will star in Space Jam 2, a sequel to the 1996 hit that featured Michael Jordan. Agence France-Presse confirmed James is in negotiations with Warner Bros.
Justin Lin of Fast & Furious 6 and 3 other films from the franchise and Star Trek Beyond, will be at the helm, looking to direct and produce the film. He is also writing the script with Andrew Dodge and Alfredo Botello.
James, a 4-time NBA MVP, in 2015 played himself in a Judd Apatow film Trainwreck.
The first Space Jam film, which earned $230.4 million, tells the story of how Jordan helped Looney Tunes characters win back their freedom against the Monstars, who stole the talents of basketball players Charles Barkley, Shawn Bradley, Patrick Ewing, Larry Johnson, and Muggsy Bogues.
