MANILA, Philippines – They sent their import packing, and now the chance for another championship doesn’t seem so slim.
Despite fielding an All-Filipino line-up, the San Miguel Beermen defeated the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 104-98, in Game 3 of their semifinal series on Thursday, April 28, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
After the events following Game 2, San Miguel decided to let go of import Tyler Wilkerson and responded impressively in its first game without the high-scoring foreigner.
Game 4 is on Sunday, May 1, with Rain or Shine leading the best-of-5 series, 2-1.
Marcio Lassiter finished with 30 points including 5 3-pointers, while Alex Cabagnot added 28 points and 6 assists in the San Miguel’s conference-saving win. Arwind Santos also had 18 points.
On the other end, Jericho Cruz put up 25 points and 9 boards while Paul Lee scored 15 points.
