MANILA, Philippines – Kyrie Irving hit a big game-sealing 3-pointer and posted a game-high 31 points as the Cleveland Cavaliers swept the first round against the Detroit Pistons, 100-98, on Monday, April 25 (Sunday, April 24 in the US).
Irving, who also had 3 rebounds and 5 assists, connected on the triple with 42.6 seconds remaining that stretched Cleveland’s one-point lead to 100-96, effectively sealing the victory at home.
LeBron James added 22 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, and two steals while JR Smith chipped in 15 points. Kevin Love finished with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Marcus Morris led the Pistons with 24 points as Tobias Harris contributed 23 markers and 13 boards. Andre Drummond had 17 points and 11 rebounds while Reggie Jackson had 13 points and 12 assists.
Last year’s finalists advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals where they await the winner between the Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics series, which is now tied at 2 apiece. – Rappler.com
