MANILA, Philippines – Hard-hitting Kazakh boxer Gennady Golovkin has taken out another hapless fighter standing in his path of destruction.

The 34-year-old slugger kept the IBF, IBO, WBA and interim WBC middleweight belts around his waist as he made quick work of previously-unbeaten pugilist Dominic Wade, stopping him at 2:37 of round two on Sunday, April 24 (April 23 in US) at The Forum in Inglewood, California.

Wade, who came out engaging in the opening moments of the first frame by pecking away with jabs, tasted the raw power of Golovkin as he was dropped by an overhand right with 11 seconds remaining in the round.

Smelling blood in the water, Golovkin immediately stalked Wade in the second stanza and had his his foe in real trouble by delivering two hooks to the body before uncorking a solid right to the head.

With the impressive victory over Wade, Golovkin remains undefeated with an immaculate record of 35-0 with 32 knockouts and extends his knockout streak to 22.

When he was asked about the possibility of facing the winner of July 5th encounter between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Amir Khan, he replied, “It doesn't matter who wins. Just give me my belt."

The official WBC middleweight title is up for grabs in the Alvarez-Khan showdown, while Golovkin holds the interim version of the belt.

On the other hand, Wade blemishes his win-loss slate for the first time in 7-year prizefighting career, downgrading to 18-1 (12 KOs). – Rappler.com
