MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Round two goes to the defending champions.
Despite getting off to a slow start, the Ateneo Lady Eagles ended their elimination round on top of the UAAP league standings thanks to a thrilling 5-set victory over the De La Salle University Lady Spikers, 21-25, 25-22, 25-16, 21-25, 15-5, on Sunday, April 10, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The win avenged a 3-set, first-round loss to La Salle for Ateneo, which will have the top seed owing to a 12-2 record.
DLSU, which won the first set of the game, dropped to 10-3 with a game against National University remaining on its schedule.
Alyssa Valdez led all scorers with 24 points – 20 on kills, 3 services, a block, plus 19 digs. Jhoana Maraguinot also played well with 14 points, while Bea De Leon scored 13.
Ara Galang led La Salle with 20 points, while Cyd Demecillo scored 12. – Rappler.com
