MANILA, Philippines – Miesha Tate will be defending her UFC women’s bantamweight title for the first time as he is set to face Amanda Nunes at the UFC 200 pay-per-view event on July 9 (July 10 in the Philippines).

Tate (18-5) captured the UFC women’s bantamweight championship last March by submitting Holly Holm with a fifth-round rear-naked choke.

The 29-year-old native of Tacoma, Washington is currently riding high on a 5-fight winning streak, with 4 coming by way of judges’ verdict.

In the other corner, Nunes (12-4) has won 5 of her last 6 Octagon outings and has her own version of a 3-bout victory parade with notable triumphs over Shayna Baszler, Sara McMann and Valentina Shevchenko.

UFC 200, which takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, is headlined by a welterweight rematch between featherweight kingpin Conor McGregor and lightweight contender Nate Diaz.

In the co-featured attraction, Jose Aldo squares off with Frankie Edgar for the interim UFC featherweight championship. – Rappler.com
