MANILA, Philippines – Rain or Shine will have to make do against defending champions Tropang TNT without its head coach Yeng Guiao, who is suspended for one game and was fined P40,000 by the PBA.
The league, according to its website's transactions page, suspended and fined Guiao "for yelling invectives at the referees and technical group" during Rain or Shine's game against Mahindra on Wednesday, March 16 in the 2016 PBA Commissioner's Cup.
The highly expressive Guiao was tossed from that contest with 1:33 left in the first half after incurring back-to-back technical fouls – the first for resentment to a call and the second for profane language.
Guiao reacted after the first technical and cursed at the referee, resulting to his second T. He then raised both his middle fingers in the air before heading to the dugout.
The Painters managed to escape with a 103-98 victory and extend their winning run to 3 games.
Rain or Shine will put that streak on the line against TNT on Monday, March 21 at 7 pm in the PBA's last game date before the Holy Week break.
The Tropa are looking to gain some momentum nearing the end of the elimination round and climb to .500 in the standings.
Rain or Shine is currently holding a 4-3 record while TNT is at 3-4.
It's still uncertain whether TNT guard Jayson Castro will see action after missing the game versus NLEX. (READ: Jayson Castro in need of rest due to nagging Achilles injury)
