Quickly rising as one of the most popular basketball players in the Philippines today, Terrence Romeo will make his FIBA debut with Gilas Pilipinas in Changsha, China for the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship.
A former UAAP MVP for the Far Eastern University Tamaraws, Romeo has already reached stardom after just his second year in the PBA, which was good enough to win the league’s Most Improved Player of the Year award after he averaged 19.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3 assists a game.
The 23-year-old Romeo, who was also part of the league’s Mythical Second Team for the 2014-2015 season, is known for his ability to lose defenders with an array of impressive ball-handling abilities, reliable 3-point shooting, and an exciting ability to finish in the paint against contact.
Romeo has quickly gained popularity abroad after impressive showings in Estonia for a pocket tournament and in Taiwan for the William Jones Cup.
Romeo’s ability on the court has been noticed by the Philippines’ continental rivals, and will be on full display when Gilas aims to book a ticket to Rio for the 2016 Olympics in the FIBA Asia tourney. – Rappler.com
