MANILA, Philippines - A season which once held so much promise for the New York Knicks has gone into a tailspin.

The Knicks skidded to their 15th loss in their last 18 games when they fell to the Portland Trail Blazers, 104-85, on Wednesday, March 3 (Manila time). The Knicks, who were at one point 22-22, now stand at 25-37.

The game - and the season in general - could be summed up by one moment in the first quarter. A frustrated Carmelo Anthony went to throw down a dunk during a dead ball situation after a whistle was blown, only to be brutally rejected by the rim and sent skidding on his back.

That was only one of the embarrassing moments Anthony had to deal with that night.

Later on, as a heckler berated the former Syracuse Orangeman about the team's poor performance, Anthony pointed towards Knicks owner James Dolan and said: "Look, the owner's right there. Ask for your money back."

Anthony issued an apology on Thursday, saying: "We are all frustrated by the team's recent results - everyone, including me, my teammates, coaches and the fans. Last night, a fan and I let those frustrations get the best of us. I should not have responded the way I did."
