MANILA, Philippines – Ever since the NBA allowed fans to vote their favorite players into the All-Star Game through social media – simply by typing a player’s name with the hashtag #NBAVote – NBA teams have come up with unique and sometimes quirky ways to attract more votes.
Take the Cleveland Cavaliers, for example, who recently posted images with Filipino words, asking Filipino fans to vote for LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.
The Los Angeles Clippers are the latest to join the party when it comes to appealing to the Filipino crowd – and they even put prizes at stake.
If fans want to win a signed basketball by star point guard Chris Paul and an autographed gold boxing glove by 8-division boxing champion Manny Pacquiao, they can do so by voting for Paul, DeAndre Jordan, or Blake Griffin through a post on the Clippers’ official Facebook page.
“Meron kang chance to win ng isang (You have a chance to win an) autographed ball from Chris Paul at isang (and an) autographed boxing glove from Manny Pacquiao,” the post reads.
“Ang kailangan mo gawin is to cast your vote para kay Chris Paul, Blake Griffin at saka DeAndre Jordan by commenting sa ilalim.”
