MANILA, Philippines - The Los Angeles Lakers' 2015-16 season has been defined so far by the impending retirement of Kobe Bryant and the losses the club has incurred.
Beyond those storylines has been the impressive play of some of their younger players, including sophomore guard Jordan Clarkson. Clarkson, a Filipino-American from San Antonio, Texas, added to his highlight reel for the season with a halfcourt shot to beat the first quarter buzzer against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Clarkson scored 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting (including 2-of-3 from downtown) while Lou Williams scored 44 points - the most by a Laker not named Kobe Bryant since Shaquille O'Neal scored 48 against the Celtics on March 21, 2003 (thank you ESPN stats on Twitter) - but the Lakers still fell to the Thunder 117-113.
The Thunder were led by 36 from Russell Westbrook and 24 from Kevin Durant as they raise their record to 26-11. The Lakers dropped to 8-30 on the season.
