MANILA, Philippines – Prior to the game between the Charlotte Hornets and Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, December 29, NBA legend Michael Jordan paid tribute to the retiring Kobe Bryant through a recorded video that was played at the Time Warner Cable Arena in North Carolina.
Jordan, the principal owner of the Hornets and considered by many as the greatest to ever play the game, apologized for being unable to be at the arena but still complimented Bryant on his “unbelievable career” and what he did for the game.
“I’m very happy to leave you this message to say how much we are very proud of what you’ve accomplished over the years,” Jordan said in the video message (READ: Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan will forever be linked)
“I’ve always been like a big brother to you, [and you’re] like a little brother,” Jordan added later on. “We communicate all the time. I just want to say congratulations.”
Jordan also congratulated Bryant’s entire family and told Bryant “you’re just like me.”
