MANILA, Philippines – The De La Salle University Green Archers will receive a boost when rookie Joshua Torralba makes his UAAP debut against the FEU Tamaraws on Sunday, September 13, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Rappler received confirmation from Green Archers head coach Juno Sauler on Saturday, September 12, that Torralba is making his return sooner than anticipated after injuring his right wrist during a tune-up game in August.
The injury took place about 3 weeks ago, after which it was revealed that the former NCAA player would be out of action for 4 to 6 weeks.
Torralba suited up for the EAC Generals in the NCAA (PH) in 2011, but head to the United States a year later after receiving an opportunity to play for University of Texas-Pan America, an NCAA Division I school.
Things didn’t work out at UTPA after the school’s basketball team changed head coaches, and Torralba returned to the Philippines after receiving a call from La Salle. He served his residency last UAAP season.
The dynamic Torralba, who just turned 22 this week, can play either the shooting guard or small forward positions and some power forward in small ball lineups. During the FilOil summer preseason tournament, he also had some ball handling duties for the Green Archers.
La Salle (1-1) is coming off a defeat to the UP Fighting Maroons. The FEU Tamaraws (1-1) on the other hand, are looking to bounce back from a loss to the UST Growling Tigers. – Rappler.com
