MANILA, Philippines – Coming off their loss to Iran, the Philippine men’s national basketball team will aim to bounce back with a victory when they take on the Wellington Saints from New Zealand on Friday, September 4, at 1 PM.
Gilas, now standing at 3-2, is essentially in a must-win situation if they hope to leave the 37th William Jones Cup with the title. Their opponents from Friday are currently 2-3 and coming off a victory against Japan, 89-81.
Gilas will have to deal with 25-year-old star Ray Turner, who averaged 6.6 points and 4.6 rebounds in a game in his 4-year college career with Texas A&M in Division I NCAA action. The 6-foot-9 power forward also played for the LA D-Fenders in the NBA D-League.
